会议简介及背景：
Nanostructures are fundamental to technological innovation in engineering, energy and environment. Their applications are often influenced by synthesis and manufacturing methods. This forum aims to: i) clarify recent advances in innovative synthesis of materials and nanostructures that offer high functionality, high productivity, high controllability, eco-friendliness and low cost; ii) identify key technical challenges to their practical adaptation in industry; and iii) to build sustainable collaborative research and training schemes between China and the UK in this field. The forum is co-funded by FCO/BIS through the Science Innovation Network, the EPSRC and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). This Forum builds on a series of discussion and exchange events since 2005 on energy and materials science, in Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, the Shenyang Institute of Metal Research, Tsinghua University, Chongqing Science and Technology Bureau, National Centre for Nanoscience and Technology, University of London and the Royal Society etc. Those meetings have laid the foundation for several UK-China collaborative research projects funded by the RCUK and Chinese funding partners, with a total value over tens of millions of pounds.
